About J. Patrick Cudahy Photography
J Patrick Cudahy is a fine art and aerial photographer who splits his time between the southern Costa Rica and Arcata, California. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Ketchum, Idaho. The Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Humanity's shared a campus with his high school and provided a strong influence for the creative direction that has developed in his life. A five month study abroad with the University of Puget Sound around the Pacific rim of Asia with endless rolls of Kodachrome, confirmed Cudahy's commitment to image making. In 1981 he begun to study under the Humboldt State University's photography department then headed by Professors Tom Knight, and William Thonson. 1983 he graduated from H.S.U. with a B.A. in Fine Arts. After graduation Cudahy worked for and was mentored by Holly Yashi Design Inc. where he created an in-house photography studio and developed a proprietary silk-screen process for the production of fine jewelry. In 1988 he branched off and founded Cudahy Studio, a full service commercial photography studio for a regional and national client base and has been widely published. In 2001 Cudahy earned his private pilots license, and began to reaffirm and redefine his artist vision with an aerial perspective. Cudahy is currently working on a series entitled: "Above The Secret Space of Tides" and continues to expand his deep roots in the fine arts working both in California and Costa Rica.
